It is recommended that you read the full provisions of this Act before making a licence application. Copies of the Act can be obtained from any of Her Majesty's Stationery Offices (HMSO). Alternatively, a copy of the Act can be viewed at all council offices. If you require further assistance to understand the requirements of the Act please contact us.
The type of machines that require licensing by the council are commonly referred to as ‘one arm bandits’ or ‘fruit machines’ such as those found in ‘Family Entertainment Centres’ (amusement arcades), Pubs, Clubs and unlicensed Family Entertainment Centres.
The categories of Gaming Machines have been defined by maximum stakes and prizes.
Category A B and C are adult only gaming machines.
Category D have no age restrictions.
