The church was formed in 1876.
Some members of the Victoria Street, Baptist Church at Sutton-in-Ashfield agreed to form a Church at Stanton Hill following the sinking of the collieries and the development of the village.
The Church has served the area well since its beginnings from cottage meetings held in the barracks.
