The following is taken from the Girlguiding UK website.

Brownies is the section of guiding for girls aged seven to ten.

Brownies follow a programme called the Brownie Adventure. The name reflects the world of exciting opportunities, challenges and fun that is Brownies.

Girls can participate in a wide range of activities at their regular meetings, and at special events, day trips, sleepovers, camps and holidays. They can find themselves trying out arts and crafts or recipes, playing energetic games, taking part in community action projects, or zooming down zip wires at activity centres.

Girls can also extend their knowledge and abilities by working towards Brownie interest badges covering many different hobbies and activities from Science investigator to Circus skills.

If you want to get involved with the Brownie Guides, the following Churches run packs in Ashfield:

Huthwaite Methodist, Sherwood Street, Huthwaite.
St. Andrew's, Mansfield Road, Skegby, Sutton-in-Ashfield.
Sutton United Reformed, High Pavement, Sutton-in-Ashfield.
St. John the Evangelist Church, Nottingham Road, Hucknall.
The Salvation Army, High Street, Hucknall.
St. Wilfrid's Church, Church Street, Kirkby-in-Ashfield.
United Reformed Church, Palmerston Street, Westwood

If you are not between the ages of seven and ten then you could join:

• the Rainbow Guides (age 4-7 years)
• the Guides (age 10-14 years)
• the Senior Section (age 10-26 years)

Or if you are older, you might consider becoming an adult volunteer.
