Blue Box Scheme - glass recycling
||How does the scheme work?

Use your Blue Box to store all your glass bottles and jars. Then every four weeks, on the same day as your 'green-lidded' bin collection, your box will be emptied and returned to you. All you need to do is put your box at the edge of your property, next to your 'green-lidded' bin, no later than 6am on the collection day.
What CAN go in the Blue Box?
| All glass bottles - e.g. for beer, wine, spirits, soft drinks, fruit juice, tomato sauce etc. All glass food jars - e.g. for jam, cooking sauces, honey, pickle, peanut butter etc. |
|
Please do NOT put the following into your Blue Box:
- Vision or Pyrex cookware
- Windows, mirrors or windscreens
- Light bulbs
- Ceramics and porcelain
Things to remember:
Please rinse out your bottles and jars to remove any food residue. There is
no need to remove labels, but please put any lids or tops in your 'black-lidded' bin.
Please do not
overfill the boxes.
Your Blue Box will not be emptied by the same crew which empties your bins and
therefore they are unlikely to be emptied at the same time so please have the Blue Box available by 6am.
If you require a second box, please call Neighbourhood Services on 0800 183 8484 and we will deliver one to you.
The boxes must be used for recycling only!
If you have difficulty placing your Blue Box at the boundary of your property
we offer an assisted collection scheme. Please telephone 0800 183 8484 to discuss with our Customer Services team.
