Your Jobseeker's Agreement
||To get Jobseeker's Allowance, you must have a Jobseeker's Agreement which is signed jointly by you and your Employment Service Adviser. At your New Jobseeker Interview, your adviser will help you draw up an Agreement which takes account of your skills and experience. The agreement will be in writing and will set out:
- your availability for work and any agreed restrictions
- the type of work you are looking for
- what you will do to look for work and improve your chances of finding work
- what you must do to remain entitled to Jobseeker's Allowance
- the services which are provided by the Employment Service to help you back into work.
If you cannot agree the content of your Jobseeker's Agreement with your adviser, your case will be sent to an independent Adjudication Officer, who will decide whether the proposed contents are reasonable or, if not, what they should be.
If you do not agree with the Adjudication Officer's decision, you can ask for it to be reviewed by another independent Adjudication Officer. If you still do not agree, you can appeal to a Tribunal.
While you are claiming Jobseeker's Allowance, either you or your adviser can ask to change the Agreement. If you cannot agree the proposed change, your case will be sent to the independent Adjudication Officer.
