Queen's Diamond Jubilee
The Diamond Jubilee takes place in 2012, marking 60 years of The Queen's reign. The Queen came to the throne on 6th February 1952 (her Coronation took place on 2nd June 1953). The celebrations will centre around an extended weekend on 2, 3, 4 and 5 June.

Changes To Ashfield's Highway Services
Changes to Ashfield's Highway Services became effective from 1st April when the services formerly carried out by Ashfield District Council were transferred back to Nottinghamshire County Council.
This now means all highways
and street lighting enquiries within the district should be made to 08449 80 80 80. So if you want to report a pothole or
broken street light this is the number to ring.
Issues relating to weeds, hedges and trees on the highway should also be reported to Nottinghamshire County Council on the number above.
Ashfield District Council remains responsible for environmental cleanliness within the district, irrespective of whether it relates to the highway or not.
For 2012/13, the district council will also continue to cut highways grass verges. This means issues with litter, dog fouling, grass cutting, needles and fly-tipping on the highway should still be reported to the district council on 0800 183 84 84.

Ashfield District Council has secured funding and is working in partnership with selected contractors to help you improve your home's energy rating with free* loft and cavity wall insulation should your home be suitable.
This free* offer is available to all home owners and private renting tenants (with landlord permission)
living in Ashfield. We urge all residents in Ashfield to take advantage of the 100% grant to upgrade your home insulation
before the end of November 2012, when grant funding ends.
A 100% grant will cover the cost of standard Cavity Wall Insulation. It will also cover full Loft Insulation where the existing depth of insulation is less than 60mm (2.5 inches). Where there is more than 60mm to 150mm a partial grant is still available and the home owner or tenant will have to contribute £99*. Click here for more information.
